Diesel Leaked In Sioux City Creek

Diesel Leaked In Sioux City Creek

Posted: Updated:

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources have determined that diesel leaking into the Perry Creek and the Missouri River was coming from a city storm sewer.

Sunday night they recieved several reports of a strong odor of an oil-like substance and a thin film floating on the water near where Perry Creek empties into the Missouri River.

The DNR say this is the result of someone irresponsibly dumping the diesel into a storm system.

Officials say the substance should dissipate, and don't expect any long-term environmental impact.
