All good things must come to an end, and that includes the Woodbury County Fair.
Events wrapped up Sunday afternoon in Moville at the 81st Blue Ribbon Fair, and, despite the economy, numbers were good.
Not only did Wednesday's opening day see record crowds, but Thursday was one of the best days fair officials have ever seen.
"Open class exhibits were up which is huge. Animal count was up, everything just came together, and it's great. We're extremely happy with it," said Dave Amick, Fair Manager.
Fair organizers were hoping that a hometown fair with literally something for everyone, including cheap entertainment and food, would keep people closer to home for a one of a kind "staycation".
"The economy was a concern and our hope was that because of that people would stay closer to home and take advantage of the entertainment in their own back yard and that happened here," said Amick. "We've had a lot of first time fair goers which is really good for us, because if we get them here once, we'll get them back."
Fair officials say they are taking at least one day vacation of their own before planning for next year's fair goes into full swing.
