A Laurel, Nebraska soldier was finally laid to rest Saturday, 44 years after his death.

Don Grella was among four crewmembers of a helicopter that went down in December of 1965.

The wreckage wasn't found until 2006, and the remains weren't identified until this summer.

Last weekend the Patriot Riders escorted his remains from an airport in Omaha to his hometown of Laurel.

A memorial service was held in his honor Saturday morning before he was finally laid to rest.
