Nearly 100 people put their athletic ability to the test today, and competed in the Siouxland YMCA's first ever Tri-State Triathlon.

The event kicked off at the Norm Waitt Senior YMCA'S indoor pool as individuals and teams prepared to take on a 400 yard swim.   After the swim, folks made a mad dash their bikes for a 15 mile ride and then ended with a 5K run.

Will Huseman, 32, was dared by his friends to compete in the triathlon, but the joke was on them when 360 pound Huseman agreed.

He went into the event with one goal in mind, to finish. He started out strong in the pool, finishing the 16 laps rather easily.

Then came the cycling event, where he found himself peddling across South Sioux City a total of 15 miles, to Crystal Cove Park and back.

When it came to the last link, the 5K run, he was more determined than ever to finish.  Toward the end of his jaunt several tri-athletes who had already finished rejoined the race and ran with Huseman, cheering him through the finish line.
