AINSWORTH, Neb. (AP) - A test of a new wind power gadget has impressed the Nebraska Public Power District - enough so that the utility has decided to buy 1 of the laser wind sensors.
During a test, the Vindicator laser wind sensor made by Catch the Wind helped NPPD align its wind turbines to generate more power and reduce stress on the turbines and towers.
The device was tested at NPPD's Ainsworth wind farm.
Catch the Wind CEO Phil Rogers says the results will show how well the company's sensor can help optimize wind power generation.
