A big grant could bring more jobs and a new look for one Siouxland town.  It's part of a larger effort by the state to put Iowan's back to work.

Officials in Sergeant Bluff were more than happy to accept the $250,000 grant, hoping it will pump new life into their community.  Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge awarded the grant as part of the I-Jobs program.

The idea is to pump state money into community projects, creating more jobs. Judge says small communities like Sergeant Bluff are what this program is designed for.

Judge says, "I love coming to small communities. I always feel like I'm home when I'm in a small community and you love to see things happening, you love to see new opportunities."

The money will go towards city hall renovations and will create 15 construction jobs in the process, something town officials say was in high demand for Sergeant Bluff.

Sergeant Bluff Mayor, Dale Petersen, says, "The city of Sergeant Bluff has grown tremendously over the last 20 years and it's never really had a council chambers and office space adequate to serve the needs of the community."

The current city hall building has been used for a variety of purposes in the past such as a bank and business offices. Officials hope to start construction on the renovations in the Spring.
