Some lean, mean individuals gathered at the YMCA today for their final Desperate Measures workout program. The six week program challenged folks of all shapes and sizes to reach their peak fitness, and centered around healthy eating and cardiovascular endurance.
While the strenuous sessions were far from easy, some say there were a lot of factors that kept them going strong.
"It's coming into the holiday season."
"Well, it's because I have two kids."
"Everybody's like wow, your face looks thinner."
"I was just motivated by everybody being on a team together."
And by sticking it out for over a month, our very own Tim Seeman not only saw results, but found a new appreciation for working out.
Tim says, "I lost 13 pounds in the course of six weeks and there's just something about coming and working out and then leaving and going to work that really feels good."
And KCAU News Director Carla Kreegar was one of the only participants to show steady improvement in all eight categories of fitness.
Carla says, "It pushes me in ways I'd never push myself."
The big winner was KSUX Radio's, Ronnie Lee, who lost nearly 20 pounds. But for Ronnie, it wasn't about the number on the scale.
He says, "You get that depression where you kinda sink down, like I'm better than this. I was a four sport athlete in high school, I'm a six year vet in the ARMY and now to be back on that threshold where I can get back to where I once was...it feels really good."
Fitness instructor, Angela Eyer, says, "That's the thing about the results. The results are all about you."
Remember the program is designed for anybody looking to slim down or shape up. Through some of the sessions, your personal trainer helps you boost endurance, strength, and overall health...all in six weeks!
The deadline to sign up for the next desperate measure program is Friday, and classes will start next week, Monday.
