Just over two years ago a Sioux City man was paralyzed from the waist down after being involved in a motorcycle accident.

Sunday folks from his longtime church held a benefit in his honor.

The star of the day, Jon Shuetz couldn't attend his own benefit because of a kidney infection that brought him to the hospital.

But that didn't stop several people from coming out to show their support.

All proceeds from the days silent auction and a bake sale will go to him and his family.

It's a benefit Shuetz's wife Erin is very grateful for.

"We were very nervous about having the benefit done because its very hard to ask for help but pastor church is wonderful and he wouldn't take no for an answer, its just we feel sincerely grateful that we have so many wonderful friends, family members and a wonderful church that is willing to help us out. "

The event was made possible thanks to several donations from the church and various people from across the community.
