Omaha woman pleads guilty to lying about murder

Associated Press - November 18, 2009 3:45 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - An Omaha woman has admitted lying to police after her estranged husband was murdered earlier this year.

Teresa Carson pleaded guilty to being an accessory to a felony on Wednesday. She is the third person to plead guilty for playing some role in the death of 45-year-old Brian Carson or the cover-up attempt.

Prosecutors have said 19-year-old Ryan Carson beat his father to death in their family's west Omaha home. Authorities believe an affair Brian Carson had with a woman his son had been dating played a role in the killing.

Teresa Carson was 1 of 8 people charged in the case. She faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced in late January.

Teresa Carson says she pleaded guilty to protect her children.
