On Monday Sioux City city council will be asked to approve the purchase of some much needed items for the new Animal Control building.
City staff will ask council to buy 73 dog kennels, and 66 cat cages for the facility.
As a way to reduce construction costs, city crews will actually install the cages and kennels.
The equipment itself will total about $154,000.
The new shelter, which will be called the Animal Adoption and Rescue Center, is set to open in March.
