It's only a few short days before the holiday shopping season begins, but what about decorating for the holiday season?

Families around Siouxland are taking advantage of the nice weather to do just that.

For some folks, it's never too early to start decorating for the holidays– but before the weather outside turns frightful, you might want to take advantage of the nice weather.

When is it too early to start decorating for the holidays?

Ask these families in Sioux City and they'll tell you,  with the weather we've been having– why not decorate now before it's too late!

"I am taking advantage of the weather, normally I'm about another 15 days or so from now– this year I'm lucky enough to have my son home to help me." Says Sioux City resident Dan Ryan.

Joyce Van Waart adds, "I always start with the outside decorations and of course we try to pick a nice day and we've had really good weather the past couple of weeks, I do get my house decorated early in the season so I can enjoy the season. When everyone else is rushing around and being crazy I can sit back and enjoy my lights."

Taking advantage of the nice weather helps get them into the holiday spirit, even if it is a little early, but to these families, holiday decorations mean more than a simple display with a few twinkling lights or big blow–ups that fill the whole yard.

"it's all about family and tradition and I want to pass my traditions down to my grandchildren." Says Van Waart.

Ryan adds, "I think lights are important, it reminds us of the bright things in life. I'm trying to start the tradition in my family. In the prior years, I've done it with my daughter now I'm trying with my son and get the fever going with him."
