Officials in Sioux County received a call Monday evening from the family of 78-year-old, Peter Schouten of Sioux Center, who didn't return home from an afternoon fishing trip.

Just before 8:00 Monday night, authorities went to a pond at Sandy Hollow, a camping and fishing area located two miles east of Sioux Center, where they found the man's clothes in the water.

A firefighter went into the water to get the clothes and discovered the body in about 4 feet of water at the northwest pond of Sandy Hollow.

Schouten was taken to the Sioux Center Community Hospital were he was pronounced dead.

Authorities do not suspect foul play.  An exact cause of death is still unknown.
