You know all of the latest hits, but the best way to get all of your guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor is with the "new" oldies -- as in, songs from the past three decades that you, your dad and your best friend from college all know by heart. So turn the page and go back in time with our top tracks -- you know, just in case all of those records, mix tapes and CDs are collecting dust in the attic.
'70s These might not be your favorite hits (but they could be!), but chances are, you've heard 'em before. Besides, your "older" guests will have a blast listening to the top tunes from the decade of bell-bottoms and disco balls.
Introduction "Love Train" by the O'Jays; "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive; "Get Down Tonight" by KC and The Sunshine Band
First Dance "The Long and Winding Road" by The Beatles; "You're My Best Friend" by Queen; "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" by Barry White
Father-Daughter Dance "Best of My Love" by The Emotions; "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker; "Your Song" by Elton John
Cake Cutting "Brown Sugar" by The Rolling Stones; "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder; "I'll Take You There" by The Staple Singers
Crowd Pleaser "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire; "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" by Michael Jackson; "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)" by Three Dog Night
'80s Can't find your hot-pink scrunchie or shoulder pads? That's too bad. But you can still amp up your reception with songs from the decade that made it okay to say things like "Gag me with a spoon" and dress like The Breakfast Club.
Introduction "Holiday" by Madonna; "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and The Waves; "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins
First Dance "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin; "Take on Me" by A-Ha; "Lovesong" by The Cure
Father-Daughter Dance "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel; "Dancing on the Ceiling" by Lionel Richie; "Daddy's Girl" by Peter Cetera
Cake Cutting "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard; "Sweetest Thing" by U2; "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar
Crowd Pleaser "Love Shack" by the B-52s; "I Melt With You" by Modern English; "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC
'90s It wasn't that long ago, but the decade of flannel shirts, Beanie Babies and -- let's be honest -- your high school yearbook, has the perfect mix of cheesy pop (oh, come on, you know you love it), sing-along ballads and dance hits.
Introduction "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch; "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" by Will Smith; "Unbelievable" by EMF
First Dance "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain; "Vision of Love" by Mariah Carey; "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden
Father-Daughter Dance "I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis; "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion; "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart
Cake Cutting "Things that Make You Go Hmmm..." by C+C Music Factory; "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz; "Ooh Ahh... Just a Little Bit" by Gina G
Crowd Pleaser "Groove Is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite; "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears; "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer
