LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska parents could soon have the ability to take a pay raise and keep their child care subsidy. A bill introduced by Senator Tanya Cook of Omaha would disregard 10 percent of income when determining eligibility for Nebraska's child care subsidy program. The disregard would apply after 12 continuous months on the program. The bill is LB359.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A North Platte woman has been charged with assault and other counts after being accused of using a stun gun on another woman during an argument. The North Platte Telegraph reports that 30-year-old Julie Bowman is charged with aggravated assault, burglary and a weapons count.
WALTHILL, Neb. (AP) - A 24-year-old Walthill man is dead after a rollover crash in northeast Nebraska. The Norfolk Daily News reports that Adam Joseph Zendejas was killed in the Friday morning crash on Highway 94. Investigators say Zendejas was a passenger in the SUV that crossed the highway's center line, entered a ditch and rolled around 6:40 a.m. Friday.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Wide receiver Jamal Turner spent most of Nebraska's first spring football practice working at quarterback. The Cornhuskers have a returning starter in Tommy Armstrong and a highly regarded top challenger in Johnny Stanton. But coach Bo Pelini said Saturday he wants to explore all options this spring. Turner was recruited as a quarterback in 2011 but switched to receiver early his freshman year.
