Being a part of the Channel 9 Team isn't just a job for me; I get to help bring the news of the day to YOU, my friends and family, and that is an honor!
I've been co-anchor of Channel 9 Eyewitness News at 5, 6, and 10 for almost three years now, but I'm a lifelong "Siouxland girl." I grew up in Hartington, Nebraska and graduated from Hartington Public High School. My parents and little brother still live there today, but I have family all over Western Iowa, as well.
I grew-up watching Sioux City television stations, but my love for journalism really began at Morningside College where I received my bachelor's degree in mass communications in 2006. There, I was editor of the campus newspaper and worked at the college radio and television stations. Some of my other favorite memories include singing in the College Choir and acting in campus theatre productions.
At KCAU, I'm proud to be part of the team that brings you the latest developments, people, and programs making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. It's a weekly series we call "Focus for the Cure," a four-year partnership with the Siouxland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Feel free to e-mail me with YOUR story ideas for this series!
In the television business, your co-workers often become like family, but for me... it's the truth! I'm married to Morning/Midday Anchor Chris Liberto, and we're so happy to be starting our life as newlyweds in Siouxland.
When we're not at work, Chris and I enjoy visiting our families, traveling (especially out East to catch a Yankees or Mets' game), and spending time at home with our two dogs, a golden retriever named Reilly and our new puppy, Emmy, a chocolate lab/spaniel mix.
