From South Korea and Hawaii to Oklahoma and Nebraska, growing up in a military family, I've literally lived all over the world. But, I've always considered myself a Midwesterner, and now I'm proud to be a Siouxlander, as well!
I graduated from Bellevue West High School in 1999, and went on to get my bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. While in the Cornhusker State, I worked with the Pinnacle Sports Radio Network broadcasting husker football, volleyball, and soccer games. From there, I spent my first year in television as a news reporter at our sister station, Channel 8, KLKN in Lincoln.
For the past four years, I've worked in KCAU's sports department as the weekend sports anchor, where I've enjoyed getting to cover the area's many talented high school, college and professional teams. A highlight has been getting to follow our local teams at the state tournaments! I'm also proud to be part of the team that won the award for "Best Sportscast" two years in a row from the Iowa Broadcast News Association.
Following sports is also my favorite hobby as I am an avid Notre Dame football fan. I also enjoy following teams from my family's roots in New York, the Mets and Giants!
In my spare time I love spending time with my family. I'm married to Evening News Anchor Jenna Rehnstrom. Go figure, we met at a local basketball game in Cherokee, Iowa. I'm also the proud uncle of two wonderful nephews, and enjoy traveling to see them, and the rest of my family in Omaha.
I'm excited to be returning to local news as your Midday/Morning anchor. I'd love to hear from you; e-mail me at cliberto@kcautv.com.
