The Army Corps of Engineers is incrementally increasing flows from Gavin's Point Dam Saturday, and may stagger release increases in the coming days as well, according to Dave Becker, the Project Manager for the Corps' Gavin's Point Dam operation.
Releases were increased from 85,000 cubic feet of water per second (CFS) to 92,500 cfs at 8 am today and will be increased to 100,000 cubic feet of water per second at 3:00 this afternoon.
Becker says this is a change from the Crops' most recent flow increase practices at Gavin's Point Dam.
Plans are to increase releases by 15,000 cfs today and by 10,000 cfs each of the following four days, reaching 140,000 cfs on June 8th. Releases are expected to top out at 150,000 cfs on June 14th.
The river level at the dam rises two inches per one thousand cfs increased release, according to Becker.
