Dakota County, Nebraska was selected by the National Civic League as a finalist for the All-America City award and was scheduled to compete against twenty-two other cities from across the United States in Kansas City, Missouri on June 15- June 17, 2011. However, due to the imminent flooding that faces the County and its residents, the National Civic League has graciously allowed Dakota County to withdraw from competing in 2011 and return in 2013 as a finalist.
Selection as a finalist is a prestigious honor for Dakota County and provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the sense of unity and collaboration that exists throughout the communities. Three key projects are the focal point of Dakota County's application and highlight the collaborations and partnerships that exist within the communities: The College Center, The Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA and The Roth Industrial Park. Dakota County looks forward to showcasing these three outstanding projects as a finalist for the All-America City award in 2013.
