INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Rachel Banham scored 22 points last night as Minnesota rallied to beat Wisconsin 74-68 in overtime to win their opening-round Big Ten Conference tournament game. The No. 6 seeded Golden Gophers will face the winner of today's game between No. 5 seeded Iowa and No. 4 seeded Purdue. Iowa beat Illinois 81-62 yesterday to advance.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - The exhibition game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins scheduled for yesterday was rained out before it started. Ricky Nolasco was set to start for the Twins. He pitched a simulated game instead.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - New Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says he would welcome Matt Cassel back to the team if the veteran quarterback wants to return. Cassel is opting out of the option year on his contract and is expected to explore his options in free agency. He went 3-3 in his six starts for the Vikings last year and was on the field at the end of the game for all five of the team's victories.
MAKATO, Minn. (AP) - The former head football coach at Minnesota State-Mankato wants to have court records from an unfounded child pornography case against him erased. Todd Hoffner was charged in 2012 with creating child pornography for recording videos of his children dancing naked. The charges were dismissed after a judge found the images weren't child porn.
