Congressman Steve King met with city leaders to try and come up with alternatives to keep Sioux City's mail processing center from moving to Sioux Falls.

King says the US Postal Service didn't consider the public's input, or think about how the closing would impact businesses in the area. The postal service has said that it will save about 2 million dollars with the closure but King says the city offers two strong alternatives.

"Whether it would come in changing the regional district of the mail which we talked about 5 years ago or whether it is in additional building expansion or other alternative buildings around that can take off that $2,000,000 a year."

King says the closure would negatively affect every aspect of mail service in Sioux City, but the postal service says nearly nothing would change.
