NWC SYMPHONIC BAND TO PERFORM CONCERT
 Northwestern College's Symphonic Band will perform a concert on Friday, February 17, at 7:30 p-m in Christ Chapel.  The ensemble will play a variety of musical styles.  Audience members will hear a piece that combines Middle Eastern melodies with African drumming.  Other highlights will include a composition inspired by ancient Greek comedy and another that evokes the spirit of the French Revolution.  The concert is free and open to the public.

SCHOLAR OF FORGIVENESS to speak in NWC chapel     
 Everett Worthington, professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, will speak in Northwestern College's chapel service on Friday, February 17, at 10:05 a-m in Christ Chapel.  A nationally recognized scholar of forgiveness, he will address the topic of "Forgiving When It's Hard."
Worthington is the author of "A Just Forgiveness: Responsible Healing Without Excusing Injustice," published by InterVarsity Press in 2009.

The Fourth Annual Komen Siouxland Race for the Cure® will be held on Sunday, May 13th (Mother's Day).  The 5K and 1 mile run/fitness walk will start and finish at the Tyson Events Center and take participants through downtown Sioux City.  Over 3,800 participants are expected.  Online registration is available at www.komensiouxland.org and people are encouraged to register early in order to receive a Race t-shirt. Volunteers are also needed to help organize the Race.  An informational and recruitment meeting will be held on January 18th 6:30 pm at Bev's on the River.  Anyone interested in being on the 2012 Race committee should attend or contact the Komen office at 712-277-1553 or by email at info@komensiouxland.org for more information.  "I strongly encourage anyone who has a passion about fighting breast cancer to get involved," said Birgit Flom, 2012, Race Co-Chair.
