The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency is withdrawing Nebraska National Guard units from Dakota, Douglas, Sarpy , Nemaha and Cass counties effective on the evening of July 31. South Sioux City and Dakota County officials are developing a plan for levee monitoring after the Guard leaves.
As waters recede and residents are able to get back into homes and other structures they should be cautious of the sediment left behind because it could be unsafe.
