She stole the show and surpassed many expectations at the Iowa Straw Poll.
And many Michelle Bachmann supporters say it's her values that helped her run away with nearly 5,000 votes.
Voter, Penelope Burnette, from Cedar Rapids, IA, says, "Her faith–based background is obvious in everything she talks about and says. And that's important. That's the basis of our nation."
Some lobbyists even feel it's voters with values that will turn around many of the other problems our nation is currently facing.
Steve Scheffler, the President for the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition, says, "For a long time, those voters have been kind of absent from the public arena and so as a result we've seen some very bad pieces of legislation put forward."
Bad or good, when it comes to selecting a presidential candidate, others feel the nation is sliding away from one very important principle.
Jason Benell, with the Iowa Atheists & Free Thinkers group, says, "There should be a separation of church and state. We shouldn't have religious theology going into our government, we shouldn't be electing candidates based on that, either. We should be electing candidates based on the consequences of their policy, not religious ideology."
And perhaps it's this ideology that needs to be considered as well come 2012.
