FEMA Advises South Dakotans To File Flood Insurance Claims

The top FEMA official in South Dakota says homeowners and business owners in the state, with flood insurance, should start filing claims for flood damage.

FEMA's Mark Neveau says the sooner people file claims, the sooner they will be paid.

Neveau says after someone calls to start a claim, an adjuster and the property owner agree on a list of damaged property.

Normally people receive 60 days to make a list of damages, but South Dakota policy holders will get 120 days, because so many people haven't been able to check damages.
