There may be frontrunners, but the race to the Republican nomination is still anyone's game. At least that's what some presidential candidates were hoping for, while in Sioux City today.
We'll start with former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich who was at Morningside College this afternoon. He's slipped in the national polls, but says if given the opportunity, he's the only candidate who could beat President Obama in a debate.
Gingrich's priorities include budget control, cracking down on illegal immigration and his new plan he's calling the "21st Century Contract for America."
He's unveiling that in Des Moines next week. But why Iowa?
"Well, Northwest Iowa is very important, all of Iowa is important and the fact is that the caucuses are going to be the first real test and I think therefore, having local folks who are prepared to go out and campaign is a big deal," said Newt Gingrich.
Presidential hopeful and Texas Congressman Ron Paul was also in town today. He held a town hall meeting at Stoneycreek Inn in Sioux City.
His main point: tax rates for the wealthy versus the poor.
His other points include getting rid of both the federal reserve and foreign aid as well as ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
