Finding gloomy economic news is easy nowadays, but the Cornhusker State seems to be doing well.
Nebraska has an agriculture based economy, and business is booming, especially for Thurston Manufacturing which makes farm equipment.
The products made at Thurston Manufacturing aren't sitting in the warehouse for long.
In fact, They don't sit at all. The company says the products are sold and shipped as soon they're made.
"This is as busy we've ever been. We're experiencing high demand for our product, and a lot of that has to do with the people we employ, and the high quality product they produce," said Ryan Jensen, Thurston Manufacturing COO.
Thurston Manufacturing makes fertilizer injector, tillage equipment, and side dump trucks.
To keep up with the demand, the family owned company's expanding. It just broke ground on a new building.
And the best news of all for folks looking for a job, it needs more employees.
"Over the last year we've hired 14 additional people, and we're looking for 25 new full time people to fill positions we currently have open," said Jensen.
This is welcome news to current employees who've been putting in extra hours to keep up with demand.
"Right now we've got people doing more than one job, or two jobs, trying to fill in, in other places, and it's very hectic. We've been getting it done, but it's very hectic," said Scott Obermeyer, an employee at Thurston Manufacturing.
If you're interested in working at Thurston Manufacturing, there will be a job fair October 8th from 10 AM until 2 PM at their building in Thurston.
