More than $9 million is federal and state disaster aid has been approved for individuals and businesses affected by this summer's flooding in South Dakota.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says 1,048 South Dakota households in five South Dakota counties have been approved for $3.9 million in housing assistance.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved another $5.4 million in low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and residents recover from flooding.
More than 1,700 households and businesses have registered for FEMA's individual assistance program since Aug. 23.
People in Charles Mix, Hughes, Stanley, Union and Yankton counties may be eligible for assistance. They can register by calling 800-621-FEMA of online at disasterassistance.gov.
The deadline to file for assistance is Monday, October 24.
