Iowa State University Extension held a meeting for people to ask questions about their homes. Flood and housing experts say as long as property is sufficiently dry, cold weather won't be a factor.
As people recover, they're already concerned about what next summer could bring.
"We're just still in the information gathering, and trying to decide what we're going to do," said Corliss Bianchini, from Riv-R-Land Estates, SD.
Bianchini says her home is down to its studs.
ISU offered free home inspections at the meeting, which she will take full advantage of.
"I was hoping to find out, whether, or not, we have any damage to our foundation and then how much moisture we still have in the studs in our house," said Bianchini.
ISU Extension staff hopes to inspect as many homes as possible Monday and on Tuesday.
"My area is mostly insulation and mold and moisture, and really trying to make sure before we let people move back into their names, that they're habitable."
