Chris Larsen Park Road sits just along the Missouri River, so when that flooded, so did the road.
But now, that road that links Floyd Blvd. to Hamilton Blvd. and I-29 is back in business!
The entire road is now open to drivers, a big announcement, considering the city had to cleanup river sand and debris, and take down 12-15 foot berms.
"This was a project that not only involved city staff and other individuals but it involved a lot of volunteers. And we're really appreciative of all the volunteers who have put in hundreds of hours to help us," said Tom Padgett, Sioux City Mayor Pro Tem.
While the road is open, all facilities remain closed, including the Lewis and Clark Interpretative Center, the playground and any restrooms.
The final phases of recovery will be reopening the boat ramp, which will remain closed to be used for continuing work on the riverfront.
