You've probably seen the huge pile of sandbags in the Dunes just off of the interstate. They are no longer needed to stop flood waters, so what will become of them?
The Dakota Dunes hired a contractor to separate the sand from the sand bags. The sand will stay, and the bags will go. The dunes will find good uses for the sand.
"We will use it for various purposes from filling holes to possibly using some of it in our snow removal operation when we sand streets and stuff.
Dooley says the contractor could begin the work as soon as Wednesday.
