Many dedicated voters have been following the GOP candidates on their campaign trail. Now one man has driven here all the way from Texas, not to watch the debate at the convention center but to make sure Siouxlanders vote for one of the candidates.

Jackie Howell drove 718 miles from Brownfield, TX to Sioux City with nothing but some clothes and a trunk full of thousands of dollars worth of brochures and cd's. With them he hopes to convince you to vote for GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Perry.

"You start watching the poles and you keep wanting Rick Perry to come up on the poles and I finally just decided, you know maybe I can do something," said Howell.

So he took time off his job in real estate and came here to hand out 5,000 brochures and 500 cd's. They contain quotes from his favorite presidents and lines from Perry's book. Howell was also hoping to catch the GOP debate live at Sioux City's Convention Center. But he says not being able to score a ticket, must be for a reason.

"I'm probably supposed to be working some other small town trying to talk to as many people as I can to get this little bit of information down," said Howell.

Howell plans to stay for a few days campaigning for Perry, who he says is all about the people and is in touch with our issues.

"I'll work my material hopefully until it's gone and I really need to concentrate in Iowa because Iowa is so important right now that Perry really needs to make a showing."

Howell says in a couple of days he'll go back to Texas but he's hoping he'll be back in Iowa for the caucuses and he still has faith one day he'll get to meet his hero.
