Eekhoff, National Coach of the Year

Western Christian boys basketball coach Jim Eekhoff has earned national high school boys basketball coach of the year honors from the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Association.  The 30 year Western head coach told Channel 9 KCAU-TV that he was informed of the award on Monday by letter.  He was informed last fall that he was being nominated for the honor said he was, "shocked" to get the news today.  Eekhoff's teams at Western Christian have won nearly 600 games and 6 state titles.  The 2011 squad ended as Class 2A runnerup.  A presentation will be made later this season as well as at the NFSHS national convention.
