Sand. It's a sober reminder of what this summer's devastating flooding left behind.

And now South Sioux City is trying to get rid of the stuff. The city lost over $7 million from flooding this summer and it's instead gained a whole lot of sand.

But a mild winter has allowed contractors to move a large amount of the sand. Many taking advantage of it and using the sand for roads and under buildings.

South Sioux City City Administrator Lance Hedquist said, "The City is keeping track of where the sand goes, making sure it's not being disposed of improperly or in improper areas. But it really is great news for the taxpayers here in South Sioux City."

If you are interested in using some of the sand, just contact the city of South Sioux.

Hedquist says the soccer fields will not be ready for use this spring but, the baseball fields? They may be seeing their first pitch in almost 2 years just a few months.
