OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Republican U.S. Senate front-runner Jon Bruning says he remains far ahead of the GOP fray in fundraising, but fellow Republican candidate Don Stenberg got a boost from a tea party leader.
A news release from Bruning's campaign says the Nebraska attorney general raised more than $400,000 in the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31. The release says Bruning has raised $2.8 million for the election cycle and has nearly $1.7 cash on hand.
A filing for Don Stenberg, Nebraska's state treasurer, shows he raised nearly $252,000 in the quarter. The bulk of that came from the Senate Conservatives Fund, a political action committee chaired by tea party leader Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina.
Stenberg reports raising nearly $384,000 for the cycle and has nearly $177,000 cash on hand.
