In a matter of seconds 25-year-old Jestaine Marrie Olsen and 37-year-old Jamie Aaron Anderson, both from Sioux City, lost their lives in a tragic accident.
It was 7:30 Wednesday morning when someone called police saying they found the accident on old Highway 141 at mile marker 25 between Smithland and Holly Springs.
Iowa State Trooper John Farley says, "When we arrived on the scene we found that this Ford F150 was upside down inside the pond."
Farley says the Anderson lost control. The vehicle went off the road and rolled several times before it came to a stop upside down resting on a frozen pond.
Farley says, "The male was ejected from the vehicle and landed several feet away from the pond and the other victim remained inside the vehicle."
Fire crews from Oto and Smithland worked with the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol during the recovery of the bodies and the car.
