Students at Roosevelt Elementary School got a nice little treat today, that included learning how to juggle. Local children's author Jeanette Hopkins visited the school as part of her country-wide tour. Hopkins sat down with the students and read her latest children's book "The Juggler."

The message: To understand that it's OK to make mistakes, and not to give up.

Hopkins also gave the students a quick juggling lesson. And while the students may need a little work on the juggling, they definitely picked up on the message.

"Sometimes you make mistakes." said second grader Jesenia Velazquez-Hancock.

"When he got to learn that it's OK to make mistakes," said second grader Eneyda Vasquez.

"That's the theme of the book... and if they said that, that's wonderful... because that's the power of the story," said Hopkins.

Hopkins hopes by sitting down with the children, and using interactive ways to learn, she can keep story telling alive.  Hopkins and her husband have toured over 160 schools and met over 60,000 students in the last two and a half years. Her next book comes out in Fall of 2013.

And if you are interested in checking out the illustrator's work in "The Juggler," the original sketches will be on display at the Art Center on Saturday, February 12th at 2:30 p.m.
