About 25,000 people drive Hamilton Blvd. in Sioux City every day. So if part of the street were closed, it would certainly affect a lot of people.
The $4.8 million project that will link Wesley Parkway and Hamilton Blvd. is in the final stages.
But the final step could close parts of Hamilton Blvd. for a few months.
The city is looking at two options:
Complete closure from West 8th to West 15th Street on Hamilton. That option would have construction finished by the middle of July.
Or the city could allow 2 lanes to be open but that would stretch construction until September.
So, does the city have a preference?
City Engineer Scott Logan said, "Our preference is to meet the needs of the public and also to the businesses along the corridor."
The City Council will probably be making the ultimate decision on February 13th.
Once the decision is made, construction will begin as soon as possible.
The City will vote right after a public meeting is held.
So, if you'd like to add your input to the Hamilton road closure issue, be sure to head to that meeting on Monday, February 13th at 3:30 in the City Council Chambers.
