A Le Mars family woke up with this morning with smoke alarms going off and a fire raging downstairs.
The Le Mars fire department put out a fire on 7th Ave S.E.
They believe the fire started accidentally from the fireplace, and spread through the wall, igniting studs and insulation.
The fire department needed to open the ceiling in the living room to put out the fire.
The damage is estimated at more than $40,000.
