Parts of Siouxland got hit with their first real winter storms last night, and here in Sloan Iowa, enough snow fell for driveways to be shoveled and snowmen to be made.
SNOW.
It's something most of us in Siouxland haven't had to deal with much this winter. But folks in Sloan, Iowa got to see some flakes fall last night.
"Been pretty light, last year and the year before I've had to hire people to come in and move it for me, but there's been nothing this year," said Randy Beltz.
City's father South like Council Bluffs have seen around seven inches of snow. Sloan saw between 1-2 inches overnight, which is just enough to be out shoveling, scraping and snow plowing Saturday. But just 20 miles North, the streets of Sioux City remain dry.
"It's lame. I have a two-year old and he has yet to go sledding. And we definitely need some snow. At this five inches so we can go sledding once this year," said Mitch Monroe, from Sioux City.
"I'm hoping for snow, because I like to go sledding and build snowmen," said Marissa Cliff from Sioux City.
Since January 1st, Sioux City has only seen a total of six inches of snow, that's why folks in Sloan are taking full advantage the little snow they got.
"I love winter, and snow and I want him to be able to be out in it. He love's being outside and its just been so tough because snow is so much fun, making snowmen and snowball fights, and he's only two, and he's just starting to learn about these fun things," said Michelle Lindberg, Sloan Iowa.
But because it is only the beginning of February, many Siouxlanders say there is still a chance for snow in out future.
"We got March,"said Beltz.
"We're not going to get away. We got by this time, but we're going to get some snow storms, I'm sure," said Monique Scarlett, from Sioux City.
