Iowa Names Phil Parker as Defensive Coordinator

   DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)

Iowa has named longtime assistant coach
Phil Parker as its new defensive coordinator.
Parker has been the defensive backs coach for the Hawkeyes for
all 13 seasons under coach Kirk Ferentz.
He replaces Norm Parker, who retired after last season. The two
are not related.
Ferentz also says linebackers coach Darrell Wilson will coach
the secondary and that Reese Morgan will shift from coaching the
offensive line to the defensive line.
Ferentz says he believes the new responsibilities for Parker,
Wilson and Morgan will have a positive effect on the team moving
forward.
Iowa still has an opening at offensive coordinator after Ken
O'Keefe announced last week he's leaving to become an assistant for
the Miami Dolphins.
