A body found in Arthur Iowa Thursday morning, may be that of a missing Odebolt man. And while the body has not been identified, Robert Bird says he knows it's his brother.
It's been more than a month since Charles Bird was reported missing from Odebolt Iowa, that's where he use to stay with his brother Robert. Thursday morning, Robert got a knock on his door from the Sac County Sheriff's Office, telling him they discovered a body, just five miles south of Odebolt, in Arthur Iowa.
"I just had a gut feeling, since we didn't find anything or have any new leads, that something bad happened," said Robert Bird.
The family says a maintenance worker for Ida County found the body in a creek. Law enforcement still hasn't confirmed the body is Charles Bird, but Robert says it's what they found on the body that tells him it's his brother.
"The Sheriff's office said he had a plaid shirt on, and a tan hat...and blue jeans..."
Bird says that's the exact same outfit Charles was wearing the last time they saw him.
"My gut feeling is saying it is him. Now I'm just wondering how long he's been out there-heat and cold. I'd like to positive ID him- Why?-so I can have some closure," said Bird.
"If it is him, we have closure at least. For me, at least we know what happened, he's not out there where were never going to see him again, as far as that goes, its still hard because he's so young," said Bird's sister-in-law Michelle.
Since 2007, Bird has lost his son, wife and mother, and now, possibly his younger brother.
The Sac Count Sheriff's Office says all they can confirm at this time is that a body was found earlier this morning in Arthur Iowa. Now the family says they will get the autopsy results back in about a week.
