Tiffany Leckband of Sioux City said, "To get so lucky to get such a big, nice house is more than we could ever ask for so, thank you everybody."
It was a day of celebration and unity for the 7-person Leckband family.
Tiffany and her husband, Brad, spent both time and sweat on their new home on West 6th Street in Sioux City.
"It's truly about your family, you learn to love your kids and don't take them for granted," said Tiffany Leckband.
You see, the bigger home is more than just a luxury for the large family. The Leckbands' youngest daughters, 7-year old twins Trista and Krista, are diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome: a chromosome deletion disorder that affects their growth, hearing, vision and many other parts of the body.
But Trista was affected worse than her sister and could face life in a wheelchair in the future.
Brad Leckband said, "She's been through two open heart surgeries so, she's a fighter and she instills in us to keep fighting."
So the bigger home means more handicapped accessibility and more room for Trista's medical supplies.
With the help of Siouxland's Habitat For Humanity and countless volunteers, the Leckbands will be moving into their new home by the end of next month.
And what are they most excited about?
"We would like to have all of our kids at the same table without having to move the table in and out," said Tiffany Leckband.
The Leckbands: Proving that not much matters more in life than family.
"In life, you struggle and if you keep going, you'll come out on top," said Tiffany Leckband.
The Leckband's home has been under restoration for over a year, now. The previous owners were reportedly hoarders, so the entire home had to be gutted out, costing over $100,000 to repair.
