The days are whittling down to the night all of hollywood anticipates: the Oscars.
And while it is about those academy awards, it's the fashion that can make or break a celeb's "morning after" status.
Channel 9's fashion expert, Peggy Higman, of Ava Morgan boutique in Vermillion, South Dakota has big expectations for Sunday evening.
For starters, extremes. You can bet all the ladies on the red carpet will be taking them.
Higman says, "It's definitely like more Grecian-Inspired, but it's definitely more about like a tighter, more body-hugging fit, or the exact extreme of that, which would be like that wide-flowy look."
Polar opposites won't only apply to the style of gown, but the color. From the blushes and beiges, to the bold and the beautiful.
Higman explains, "Sophia Vergara! We'll see her probably wearing a big pop of color."
And contrary to popular belief, black does not go with everything.
Higman adds, "Basic black is gone. If you see basic black, you're gonna see black with a really great piece of jewelry."
Which brings us to the icing on the cake. Things that sparkle.
Higman says, "This is the night in Oscar and Hollywood land. In the land of make-believe where you're gonna see big-on, full-on, diamonds."
But because the Oscars aren't just about our leading ladies...
Higman says, "Some real, stream-lined tuxes, and more of that European look. You might see some midnight blue instead of black, but the guys are spot on, they know they need to be dressed well. Everyone's gonna be asking them who they're wearing."
Peggy will be joining Channel 9 live, Sunday evening, for all the fashion hits and misses of Oscar night. Be sure to tune in during both our shows Sunday night, 5:30 and 10:00, right here on KCAU.
