It's almost a year after last summer's historic flooding first began but all that leftover sand may now be a cause for alarm when it comes to your health.
This sand left behind by last summer's historic Missouri River flood may look harmless. But some folks who like to walk by the riverfront don't exactly see it that way.
"There's a lot of sand that gets in your eyes, you have to wear sunglasses at all times and if you don't it really stings. And then you have to keep your mouth shut too because it gets in your mouth all the time," said Carly.
And Mike Arnet says, "There's going to be some problems that's for sure. There's a lot of people with trouble breathing, asthma, they'll have some trouble."
According to physician David Ensz, he's been seeing patients that have been suffering health complications because of that sand.
He says, "The main problem that people run into is breathing problems. The blowing sand can be really fine and act like an allergen."
And you might even feel some changes in your throat.
Carly says, "It's just dry mouth mostly just because it seems like there's so much sand in your throat that it gets dryer and dryer."
So Dr. Ensz recommends keeping your inhaler with you if you have one and stay away from the sand on windy days.
