Hello, I'm Lucas Treat. I'm the weekend sports anchor here at Channel 9 and excited to find myself in Siouxland.
I come from Branson, MO, yes that Branson, MO, and graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. While I attended MSU, I was a part of Ozarks News Journal, the university's statewide news magazine show. At ONJ, I covered everything from the Joplin tornado to the St. Louis Cardinals 2011 postseason run. I was privileged enough to be honored with a 2011 MBEA award for my story on Joplin High School Football, as well as sharing a first place SPJ Region 7 for Best All-Around Newscast. I also attended Boston University's Sports Institute in 2010, where I got to cover the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
When I'm not working, I enjoy rooting for my alma mater (go Bears!), the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. My biggest sports thrill was David Freese' walk-off homerun in Game Six of the World Series against the Texas Rangers.
Sports serve as a microcosm for every emotion. I got into this business to tell great stories, and local sports are truly what make sports compelling. So if you know someone whose story needs to be told, feel free to email me at ltreat@kcautv.com
