Last summers flooding took a toll on the Lewis and Clark Recreation Area near Yankton.

"We were here last summer, but we didn't take the boat along last summer because the water levels were up," camper Rick DeBoom said. "There was a lot of debris. This year it's down just a little. It's beautiful on the water now."

Thanks to mother nature and the hard efforts of folks who work at the recreation area the water is now crystal clear, and that hard work seems to be paying off in the number of people checking out the campground.

It's seen a big increase in visitors and campers since last year, and it's also approaching an all time high on the number of visitors for the year.

"There's a lot more full now," DeBoom added, "Last year there were a lot more empty spots."

District Supervisor of Parks, Shane Bertsch said, "The beaches were completely packed. They're a lot happier this year than they were last year."

Right now because of the Fourth of July holiday the campground is near capacity, but there are still a few spots available.
