Inside the auditorium of the Old Central High School is a mural painted in the school's honor.

One of it's alum, George Olson recently repainted the mural.

He graduated from Central High in 1972, part of the last class to graduate, and in that year the original mural premiered.

"Every time we had an assembly we would use that backdrop for the theme at that assembly," George said.

Now unfortunately, over the years the original mural decay. Due to hot and cold temperatures, the mural began to crack and chip away.

So, Olson was asked to repaint the mural back in March, and it only took him 3 months to finish it.

"If you look close there are a lot of bumps in it from the paints that never came off," he added. "It adds to the character of it."

Next week George's class will gather for its forty year reunion, and he hopes their feedback will be good.

He noted, "I hope it's positive. I feel confident it will be."
