She's Mitt Romney's wife of 43 years and his biggest cheerleader. Tuesday Night Ann Romney had quite a task. Her speech was meant to reintroduce Mitt Romney to voters, show his human side, the husband and father that may not come across in a rough and tumble campaign.
Ann Romney's Speech was also aimed at women voters, considered a key to the election.
Americans may be familiar with Mitt and Ann's wealth their photogenic family and their relationship that began all the way back in high school. Ann said, "I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a 'storybook marriage." But Tuesday night Mrs. Romney said their life hasn't been a fairytale, and their family has been through challenges. "those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or breast cancer."
The speech comes at a critical time for the Romney campaign. A new ABC News Washington Post poll found that Romney has the lowest personal popularity at the time of the convention of any major-party nominee dating back to 1984.
If Ann Romney made the personal pitch for her husband, the keynote speaker, blunt and brash new Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, made the political one saying, "We have a nominee who will tell us the truth and who will lead with conviction."
