The Omaha District of The US Army Corps of Engineers awarded 8.3 million dollars in contracts for repairs to the Missouri River Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project.

The project runs nearly 116-river miles stretching from Sioux City to Rulo, Nebraska.

The repairs will incorporate about 250-thousand tons of rock to help train and slow the flow of water... As well as preventing any erosion and degradation of the bank.

"We can typically do about two-thousand tons a day give or take. Usually we've done better than that, but this is probably going to take a little longer." said Joey Belken, the project's supervisor.

Repairs of the bank stabilization and navigation structure are essential in maintaining the navigation channel in support of the nation's commerce along and throughout the river.

The funding for this work is provided by The Disaster Relief Appropriations Act which was signed last December by President Obama.
