Lyle Simpson and his family are the owners of two pitbulls. One, a nine-year-old, by the name of Mary Jane.

On Sunday August 26th, that dog was shot in the face by an Onawa police officer who was investigating a possible vandalism at the home next door.

Channel 9 Eyewitness News has now learned that Simpson has been given two citations from the city on Onawa. One is for harboring a vicious animal, and the other is allowing a dog to run at large.

The officer who shot the dog has also been cleared of any wrong doing.

Simpson has told Channel 9 Eyewitness news that he plans on fighting the citations when he goes to court on September 19th.
